Synopsis:
When Ruth’s family dies in a fire, her single sister, Millie, comes west to live with her. Their life is settled and predictable on their western ranch, until young, wounded bandits decide to use their home as a safe house while healing.

Millie had some medical training earlier in her life and nurses the wounds, while Ruth attempts to civilize the young men.

In the meantime, the Marshall, who has been wounded in the shootout with the bandits, sends for Millie to doctor him. He and Millie were sweethearts before he left for the west many years ago. As she nurses his wound, the old flame between them grows again.
The Marshall has revenge on his mind. The bandits have left a trail of destruction and death throughout the west and the Marshall is determined to stop them. But his methods leave he and Millie at odds.

Origin of Species deals with the ideas of revenge, redemption, and forgiveness, to leave us with the question – what makes a man human.
